What is A DOULA?
A DOULA IS A NON-MEDICAL BIRTH PROFESSIONAL THAT ASSITS FAMILIES WITH CHILDBIRTH. WHILE A DOULA IS PRESENT FOR TECHNIQUES, PAIN MANAGEMENT, AND EMOTIONAL SUPPORT, WE DO NOT PROVIDE ANY MEDICAL SERVICES.
WILL MY DOULA BE ALLOWED TO STAY WITH ME IN THE HOSPITAL?
MOST DOULAS OFFER SUPPORT THROUGH DELIVERY. I PERSONALLY, REMAIN AT A BIRTH UNTIL BABY'S FIRST LATCH TO BREASTFEED OR AFTER THE FIRST BOTTLE FEEDING.
DOES MY INSURANCE COVER THE SERVICE?
WHILE SOME FAMILIES HAVE BEEN SUCCESSFUL IN GETTING INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT, MOST INSURANCE PROVIDERS WILL NOT COVER BIRTH DOULA SERVICES. PAYMENT METHODS INCLUDE: CASH, CHECK, MONEY ORDER, HSA, DEBIT/CREDIT, AND ONLINE PAYMENT SERVERS.
" You're so sweet - you were there for us. When we were freaking out about being prego at the beginning you made time for us. And you helped me feel confident in my body to deliver her naturally so she was wide eyed and alert when she was born ... memories I'll treasure forever. You're a great doula and if we have #2 I hope you'll help us again."
