So.. You’re pregnant and you’re wondering about the different options you have for birth. Although this process can seem complicated, it doesn’t need to be stressful. First, let’s consider the options in Indiana, the great Hoosier state.
Hospital This option is the most used within Indiana. Typically families that have chosen an Ob/Gyn or hospital based Midwife as their care provider will birth at the hospital. Birth Center In the Indy area there is one free-standing birth center, Sacred Roots. This birth center consists of a team of CNM’s. They have a collaborating agreement with the local hospital should any difficulty arise. They assist with most births with the exception being high-risk births and VBAC’s. (vaginal birth after cesarean). Home Birth Indianapolis has a pretty diverse selection when it comes to this option. Depending on personality, birth location, health history, and your due date, any one of these midwives could be a great fit. A few of these midwives are: Marisol Holman with Sol Midwifery Shannon Gilmore-Greika with Divine Birth Midwifery April Brake with Serene Midwifery Brandi Wood with Home4Birth I’d like to state that as a doula, it’s not my responsibility to offer information about favorites. Regardless of what you choose, be informed. Do your research. You don’t have to be nervous about interviewing your care provider. Make a list of questions so that you don’t forget and, get started. Congratulations on your new baby!!!
